Usage Note 30902: Updating an expired SAS® Digital Marketing license
SAS Digital Marketing uses the same setinit and SAS installation data (SID) file as Base SAS®. However, it resides in another location and has a different name.
The SAS Digital Marketing Server checks the license file when it starts, but does not check it again until it is restarted.
Therefore, it is possible for the system to run for some time before you notice that the setinit has expired. The expired setinit usually becomes apparent when some configuration changes that require the server to be restarted have been made in SAS Digital Marketing Studio.
When you restart the server, if the license has expired, the start-up window or logs contain a message that informs you of this, and the server will fail to start.
To install the new setinit, copy your standard SAS setinit file to the appropriate directory for your system type on your server machine, as follows (where x.x represents the
SAS Digital Marketing release number (for example, 4.4, 5.1, and so on):
In a Windows operating environment
c:\program files\sas\SASDigitalMarketing\x.x
\config
In a UNIX operating environment
...SAS/SASDigitalMarketing/x.x
/config
Save the file as bes.sss.
You can also rename the original license file to something else, and then reuse the original name of the license file.
After you rename the file, you should be able to restart your SAS Digital Marketing Server.
You can also use the SAS Digital Marketing configuration tool to point the system to the new setinit. This tool shows you where your original setinit was installed and under which name, if you do not know.
From the fixed release of SAS Digital Marketing onwards, the standard SAS setinit is used. Therefore, these instructions do not apply to those software releases.
