Problem Note 30729: Order of multiple selection filters with OLAP queries can cause incorrect data in results
In some clients, multiple member filtering can cause incorrect results to be returned by the SAS® OLAP Server. This behavior is expected and is a side-effect of the OLE DB for OLAP design required for compliancy. Users accessing their data through clients such as Microsoft Excel are likely to see this problem.
Mosha Pasumansky, a third-party author, has written an article, "Writing multiselect friendly MDX calculations", about this behavior with respect to MDX querying when using servers that adhere to the OLE DB for OLAP specification.
One suggestion in the article is to include your stored measures as calculated members within the Measures dimension. This approach causes the measures to be evaluated correctly when the query is processed.
Beginning with SAS 9.2, a new feature in the SAS OLAP Server uses an internal data type to process the aggregated values. This feature is available through SAS 9.2 clients, except for the SAS Add-in for Microsoft Office 4.2. A new OLAP viewer, which will take advantage of this feature, is planned for the next major release of the SAS Add-in for Microsoft Office. The Microsoft Excel PivotTable and other third-party clients will not support this feature because it is not part of the MDX specification.
