The ODS NORESULTS statement can be used to prevent output objects from being sent to the Results window. This statement is suggested in situations where the program creates a lot of output, such as a simulation, or when a large number of BY groups is used in an analysis. When the Results window is active, the backup file ODSOUT.SAS7BITM is created and can grow fairly large when a program generates large amounts of output. When this file gets too large, operating system specific errors, such as Read Access Violation or Segmentation Violation errors, might occur.  The processing time for SAS procedure steps can also increase significantly as the size of the ODSOUT.SAS7BITM file increases.
