Usage Note 24512: Can I create split-plot designs with SAS or JMP?
Both SAS and JMP can create and analyze split-plot designs. In SAS/STAT software, the PLAN procedure can generate full factorial split-plot designs, while the ADX interface in SAS/QC software generates both full factorial and fractional factorial split-plot designs. The type of fractional factorial split-plot designs generated in the ADX interface is a class of minimum aberration designs based on Huang, Chen, and Voelkel (1998).
The analysis of a split-plot experiment can be done using the MIXED procedure in SAS/STAT software. For more information, see "Split-Plot Designs" in SAS ADX Interface for Design of Experiments, which is part of the SAS/QC software documentation.
JMP can generate D-optimal split-plot designs and analyze the data from such designs. This paper (in PDF) demonstrates generating D-optimal split-plot designs and analyzing the data by using JMP.
