Usage Note 24292: Do you recommend a 32-bit or a 64-bit Windows host for the SAS Metadata Server?
This depends on your memory requirements. On Windows 32-bit hosts, an application can address only 2 GB of memory per process (3 GB if you run with certain parameters turned on. See Note to Windows Users in the SAS 9.2 Intelligence Platform: System Administration Guide for information about these parameters).
If you expect to have large repositories, then consider moving your metadata server to an environment that will allow you to access more than 2 GB of RAM at a time; for example, Windows 64-bit or UNIX.
