Usage Note 23071: What does it mean for software to be "experimental"?
The experimental software designation often refers to a preliminary version of software that is released in order to get user feedback.
It is important to note that, while experimental software has been tested before its release, it has not received the level of testing that SAS deems necessary for software to be called "production." The design and syntax of experimental software is likely to change before its production release. However, experimental software might be included as part of a production product.
Whenever you use an experimental procedure, statement, or option, a message is printed in the SAS log, or in the documentation, indicating that the procedure, statement, or option is designated as being experimental. It is always a good idea to check for any known problems in the SAS Notes when using experimental software.
