This error typically occurs if SAS/ACCESS to SYBASE is unable to locate the SYBASE client. Complete the following steps:

Verify that the correct SYBASE Open Client is installed on the same PC as the SAS/ACCESS Interface to SYBASE.
With SAS 8.2, one of the following releases of SYBASE Open Client software is required:
- SYBASE, Open Client, Release 11.1 or later
- SYBASE, Open Client, Release 12.0
- Adaptive Server Enterprise, Release 11.x or later.
- Make sure the following directories are in the system path:
- c:\sybase\bin
- c:\sybase\dll
Note: The SYBASE client can be installed under c:\sybase, so the path might differ depending on where the SYBASE client is installed.
