There are a couple of ways to view the contents of a template, interactively and with SAS statements:

• In the Results window, right-mouse-click on the Results icon. Select Templates. Select the template store where the template is located. Select the directory. Select the template.

• Issue PROC TEMPLATE with the SOURCE statement, which dumps the template source to the log. Adding the FILE= option saves the template source to a file.

     proc template;
       source styles.default / file='c:\sas\template.sas.';
     run;
