Usage Note 22715: How can I copy a transport file from tape to disk on UNIX?
A common utility to perform
this copy task is the DD command with the BS=8000 option. This command will block the file while copying it from tape to disk. Later, you can process the transport file from disk.
To copy a
file from tape to disk on UNIX:
dd if=/dev/tape1 of=tran.dat bs=8000
To copy a file from disk to tape on UNIX:
dd if=tran.dat of=/dev/tape1 bs=8000
