Problem Note 20717: The words "Total" and "Subtotal" might not be translated as expected in SAS® Web Report Studio reports

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

Explanation of behavior beginning with 4.31_M2

Beginning with SAS Web Report Studio 4.31_M2 with the latest hot fix, the words "Total" and "Subtotal" should be translated based on the language that is set in the SAS® Preferences Manager. This is true for both live, scheduled, and distributed reports. By default, the SAS Preferences Manager uses the browser locale. The URL for directly accessing the SAS Preferences Manager is http://host:port/SASPreferences.

Even if you are using the latest release, you might still encounter the following issues:

  • The words "Total" and "Subtotal" might not be translated if your browser language is set to Dutch, your report is based on an OLAP data source, and you are running 4.4 or 4.4_M1. A fix for this issue is planned for a future release.

  • To ensure that the word "Total" is translated as expected, create the report in a browser that is set to the language in which the report will be viewed. If you create the report in English, then the word "Total" might not be translated based on the language that is set when the report is viewed.

  • In an OLAP-based report, the word "Total" might not be translated if you add conditional highlighting on a column after you enable totals.

Explanation of behavior in earlier versions

In earlier versions, the translation might be based on the language that is set for the web application server, or it might be based on the language that is set for the Java locale. In addition, the translation might be different for live reports versus scheduled and distributed reports, and for OLAP versus relational reports. In some cases, the word "Total" might use a different language than "Subtotal".

Version 4.3

If you are running release 4.3, then you can download the related hot fix from the Hot Fix tab in this note. After you apply the hot fix, the words "Total" and "Subtotal", in live reports, are translated based on the language that is set for your browser. Scheduled and distributed reports still use the language that is set for the Java locale.

Note: If you are not running at least hot fix D26014, then the word "Total" might not be translated if one of the Subtotal options is not also selected. This problem occurs only in OLAP-based reports. If you encounter this problem, download the latest hot fix from the Hot Fix tab in this note.

Version 3.1

If you are running version 3.1, then you can download the related hot fix from the Hot Fix tab in this note in order to translate the words "Total" and "Subtotal" based on the language that is set for the Java locale.
