Problem Note 20485: SAS® generates a "com.sas.workspace.WsAppServerLibraryException: Libname XXXXXXXX is not assigned" error when you attempt to launch View Data on a target

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

If you attempt to open View Data on a SAS data set that resides in a SAS library on the mainframe (z/OS), and any other SAS session has that SAS library opened for update (DISP=OLD), the View Data fails. You receive the message listed above in the details section of the error dialog.

Because View Data always launches a new SAS session, this error even occurs in the following scenario:

You open a job within SAS® Data Integration Studio where your target table resides in a SAS library on the mainframe. You submit the job and it runs successfully. You highlight the target table in Process Designer and attempt to View Data.

In this scenario, the only workaround is to close Process Designer so the lock on the library is freed, then open View Data to examine the table contents.

Select the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.
