Usage Note 20479: Batch jobs might end with a return code of 4 with no warning in the SASĀ®
log
In SAS® 9.1.3 service pack 4, batch jobs will end with a return code of 4 if
the SAS log contains the following note:
NOTE: At least one nonessential grouping column reference has been
removed from a GROUP BY's reference list
The circumstance described above is a problem for the following reason.
A return code of 4 indicates a potential problem in a batch job, and is
a condition that requires immediate attention. However, the content of
the note does not constitute such a potential problem, and thus is a
false alarm for a problem that does not exist.
A hot fix has been created to modify the software's behavior so that
jobs will end correctly with a condition code of 0, in accordance with
prior releases of SAS software.
Select the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.
