The following steps outline the process of adding SAS Text Miner 3.1 to
an existing installation of SAS 9.1.3 with SAS Enterprise Miner 5.2.
These steps are specific to UNIX systems. For steps specific to Windows
systems, please see SAS Note  #020368 .

1) Log on to the server using the "sas" account, or the same account
which was used to perform the initial installation. Confirm that the
"vpd.properties" file exists in that user's HOME directory.  SAS Note
 #015962  describes potential problems if the vpd.properties file does
not exist.

2) Stop all SAS processes. This includes the SAS Metadata Server, Object
Spawner, and SAS Analytics Platform Server. The SAS Analytics Platform
Server is a Java process, rather than a "SAS" process.

3) Start the install from the SAS Software Navigator for SAS 9.1.3 using
the SAS Software Navigator CD contained in the "801 Deployment Tools
Media" section of your installation kit. Installation Revision SE29 and
higher contain the media for Text Miner 3.1.

4) Use "Enterprise Miner Text Miner, one machine" deployment plan file.

NOTE: The "Enterprise Miner Text Miner, two machine" plan file is
incorrect. It does not include the proper deployment components. The
"one machine" plan file is appropriate for the server, even if you have
a multi-tier environment.

5) Check "SAS Foundation" and "Text Miner java client" in the
Installation Options screen. Uncheck all other items, especially the
Configuration Wizard. Running the Configuration Wizard can cause
corruption to an existing configuration directory and Foundation
Repository.

6) SAS Setup will launch and begin the installation of SAS
Foundation components. Select the options to Update an Existing
Installation, and Selectively Load Software. Select "Text Miner" to
install. Other Foundation products are not required.  NOTE: You can
select other SAS Foundation products to add at this time. Be aware that
if you install a SAS Foundation product which has already been
installed, the installation process will replace the current product
files. Any Hot Fixes you had installed prior to this update will need to
be reinstalled.

7) SAS Text Miner Java Client and Mid-Tier and Desktop Client Service
Pack installations will run without further prompting.

8) After installation is complete, perform the post-installation steps
for SAS Text Miner 3.1:

10) Start the SAS Metadata Server, Object Spawner, and SAS Analytics
Platform Server.
