Usage Note 20954: A metadata backup script is available for UNIX operating systems
The SAS® Metadata Server is an "in–memory" server. All queried and
updated metadata is held in memory by the server until it is paused and
resumed or stopped and restarted. Because traditional operating system
backup utilities only back up data that has been committed to disk,
these utilities may not capture all changes that have been made to the
metadata unless the metadata server has been stopped or paused.
In order to simplify the backup process, a backup script for UNIX operating systems is now available for download.
Refer to the Readme.txt file included in the zip file for instructions
on implementing this utility.
