Usage Note 20853: Problem accessing a pre-assigned SAS® Scalable Performance Data Server® library when running a stored process
If you are running a SAS® Stored Process Server that accesses a
pre-assigned SAS Scalable Performance Data Server (SAS SPDS) library, you might see the following error message
if the SAS SPDS times out:
ERROR: Server has disconnected..
After this error occurs, your stored process requests will not
be able to access your pre-assigned SAS SPDS library.
For example, suppose your SAS SPDS library has a timeout value of 60
minutes. After your SAS Stored Process Server has been running 60 minutes
(if no stored process requests access your SAS SPDS data during this
time period), the above error message might appear in your SAS Stored
Process Server log file.
One workaround is to specify a SAS Stored Process Server "Inactivity
Timeout" that is less than the value of your SAS SPDS server timeout.
For example, if your SAS SPDS timeout value is 60 minutes,
then set the "Inactivity timeout" for your SAS Stored Process Server to
50 minutes. Here are the steps:
- Start the SAS® Management Console.
- Expand the Server Manager.
- Expand SASMain.
- Expand the Logical Stored Process Server.
- Right-click SASMAIN-Stored Process Server and select
Properties.
- Select the Options Tab.
- Click the Advanced Options button.
- Select the Load Balancing Properties.
- Under Inactivity TimeOut (Mins), click the check box and enter
the timeout value that you want to use.
- Restart your Object Spawner to activate the changes.
Another workaround is to issue a LIBNAME statement in your
stored process that accesses the SAS SPDS library. If you use this
approach, specify a libref name that is different than the
pre-assigned libref name for your SAS SPDS library.
You can also workaround this issue by increasing the timeout value for your
SAS Scalable Performance Data Server.
