Usage Note 20812: How to update a license for SAS 8.2 or prior releases on Unix systems
The SAS System requires the application of SETINIT information
before your licensed software will run. This authorization
process takes place whenever you contract to renew your existing
SAS System license, or add additional products to your site license.
Your SETINIT information should be applied when you receive new
SETINIT data from SAS Contracts Customer Service.
You should not change the SETINIT information unless
you are the SAS System administrator for your site.
To apply the SETINIT and update your SAS license, save a copy of the
setinit.sas file sent to you by Contracts in the directory where
you have SAS installed. Name the file setinit.sas .
If you already have a file called setinit.sas in that directory,
you can rename that file using the Unix mv command.
Next, while the directory where SAS is installed is your current
directory, issue this command from the Unix system prompt:
./sas -setinit ./setinit.sas
By doing this, you are running a batch SAS process (./sas),
specifying the -setinit option, and using the setinit.sas file
in the current directory as the program file.
When the process finishes, view the file called setinit.log
that is in the current directory.
Check the log file for the following note:
NOTE: Siteinfo data have been updated.
If there are no errors in the log, you can disregard any other
notes or warnings in the setinit.log file. If you do find error
messages, check the setinit.sas file for extraneous characters
(such as misspellings, carriage returns or line feeds) that might
have been introduced by editing the file. Make any corrections
that are needed, save the file, and then execute the command above.
If you have questions about your SETINIT data, please call our
Contracts Customer Service Department at (919) 677-8003 between 9:00
a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
If you encounter problems applying your SETINIT and you are a U.S. or
Canadian customer, please call SAS Technical Support at (919) 677-8008
