Problem Note 20683: SAS® software becomes unresponsive when you use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)
When using DDE to communicate between SAS and Microsoft Office products,
SAS can become unresponsive if you execute a FILE or INFILE statement in the
DATA step. When this occurs, SAS must be closed.
The following code examples show how this problem can occur:
FILENAME xldata DDE 'Excel|[book1.xls]Sheet1!R1C1:R2C4';
data _null_;
infile xldata;
run;
FILENAME cmds DDE 'Excel|System';
data _null_;
file cmds;
run;
