Problem Note 20567: Double-byte character sets (such as Chinese, Japanese, and Korean) appear as question marks after applying the SAS® Enterprise Guide® hot fix 40EG41
After you apply hot fix 40EG41 to SAS Enterprise Guide 4.1, a transcoding error occurs when you submit data that includes double-byte character sets (DBCS) (such as Chinese, Japanese, and Korean) to a server that has the WLATIN-1 encoding. The data in certain macro variables appear as question marks (???) in the SAS Enterprise Guide log and the following error messages are generated:
SAS Enterprise Guide
An error occurred executing the workspace job "Line Plot". Integration Technologies <DBCS
characters>.
Note: The DBCS characters are translated to be "Could not submit the code [Error] Some code points did not
transcode."
|
SAS Enterprise Guide
<DBCS characters>
Integration technologies failed to submit the code. The parameter is incorrect.
|
The problem occurs when you use the following macro variables:
_CLIENTMACHINE
_CLIENTPROJECTNAME
_CLIENTTASKLABEL
_CLIENTUSERID
_CLIENTUSERNAME
_CLIENTVERSION
_EGHOSTNAME
_EGMACHINE
_EGSERVERNAME
_EGTASKLABEL
_EGUSERID
_EGUSERNAME
_EGVERSIONL
_SASHOSTNAME
_SASPROGRAMFILE
_SASSERVERNAME
Because the server is running a DBCS version of the software in a WLATIN-1 encoding, the server does not know how to handle the DBCS characters.
A fix for these transcoding issues is planned for later releases of SAS and SAS Enterprise Guide.
