When you run the ADD_HISTORIC_TARGET module in SAS® Anti-Money Laundering, SAS might generate the following warning message in the log:

NOTE: Appending MST_NBRS.HIST_NN to MST_NBRS.SAVED_NN.
WARNING: Variable XXX has different lengths on BASE and DATA files (BASE 3 DATA 8).

The warning is issued because the character lengths are different between the mst_nbrs.saved_nn and mst_nbrs.hist_nn data sets. The PROC APPEND in the ADD_HISTORIC_TARGET.SAS program needs a FORCE option or LENGTH statement.
