Usage Note 20017: SAS/CONNECT conversation to a remote AIX server might intermittently terminate
A SAS/CONNECT conversation to a remote AIX server may disconnect prior to completing the current remote job. Error messages that may occur when this behavior occurs include:
ERROR: A communication subsystem message transmission request failure
has occurred.
ERROR: Communication Subsystem Protocol Error: Send attempted in receive
state.
This problem has been linked to the IBM issue which is fixed in APAR
IY89387.
IBM's description:
When a TCP connection goes idle, and remote end sends TCP keepalives,
AIX will respond to 5 keepalives and stop responding after that.
However, it will respond to FIN when closing the connection.
