Problem Note 2859: LOCK statement or LOCK function with LIST or QUERY options might report locks incorrectly
The LOCK statement with the LIST or QUERY option and the LOCK function
with the QUERY option in SAS Component Language (SCL) indicate if you
have an exclusive lock on a SAS file. However, if you do the following:
1) in the current SAS session issue the LOCK statement or LOCK
function to lock a SAS data set,
2) in a separate SAS session attempt to access the SAS data set that
has been LOCKed (you receive an ERROR message indicating the data
set is not available),
3) issue the LOCK statement with the LIST or QUERY options or the LOCK
function with the QUERY option in SCL on the SAS data set in a
separate SAS session,
the LOCK LIST or QUERY statement displays the following NOTE erroneously
and the LOCK function with the QUERY option returns -630099:
NOTE: libref.member.DATA is not locked or in use by you or
any other users.
However, if you attempt to LOCK the data set instead of querying its
lock status, you are correctly told whether there is already a lock on
the data set.
