The information in this Problem Note applies to SAS® 9.1.3.
Please see
Problem Note 39626 for information about this problem in SAS 9.2.
The Object Spawner log will report the following message if it cannot start a Workspace or Stored Process server:
Communication error with launch server.
When the Object Spawner launches, it calls the External Launch server to handle the initiation of the UNIX Workspace server and the Stored Process server.
The communication error occurs during the process of launching the server(s), and is usually the result of a system resource limitation or some other type of system performance degradation. Examples are slow response times from the system that is servicing authentication requests, or NFS server performance problems.
Click the Hot Fix tab in this note to access a hot fix that enables the External Launch Server to be more tolerant of minor issues that can occur at the operating system level.
See Usage Note 032816 for additional information on enabling the Object Spawner to pick up the related hot fix.
See Problem Note 015992 for additional information on creating an Object Spawner log file if none is generated.
