Usage Note 19296: "ERROR: Write to SASUSER.PROFILE.CATALOG failed. File is full and may be
damaged."
You might receive the following error if your hard drive is full:
ERROR: Write to SASUSER.PROFILE.CATALOG failed. File is full and may
be damaged.
If this error message appears, try the following:
Free hard drive space
- Click Start==>Run, type explorer, and click OK.
- Highlight your C: Drive, right-click, and select Properties.
- Check how much free hard-drive space you have.
Where is your SASUSER library located?
- If you are not sure, open
the sasv9.cfg file located in !sasroot\nls\en and look for the
-SASUSER entry. The default location for !sasroot is C:\Program Files\SAS\SAS 9.1.
- If SASUSER is pointing to "?CSIDL_PERSONAL\My SAS Files\9.1",
click on Start==>Run, type cmd, click OK.
A Command/DOS Prompt appears.
- Type set at the prompt, and press Enter.
- Scroll down and look for Userprofile, which is equivalent to ?CSIDL.
- Append \My SAS Files\9.1 to the end.
The default location is
C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>\My Documents\My SAS Files\9.1.
- If SASUSER is pointing to another location, check the space on that drive.
- If you have another drive that has more space, you can redirect
-SASUSER to a different hard drive location by modifying the
sasv9.cfg file in the !sasroot\nls\en directory. For example:
-SASUSER "D:\sasuser913"
- Once you have modified the sasv9.cfg file, save it, create the new
directory, and restart SAS.
Corrupted sasuser profiles
If you have enough available hard drive space, your sasuser profiles
might be corrupted. To correct the sasuser profiles, perform the
following:
- Open Windows Explorer, and go to your SASUSER library as determined
previously.
- Rename the the following files:
- profile.sas7bcat to profile.old
- profile2.sas7bcat to profile2.old
- If a dialog box appears saying that the file will become unusable,
click OK.
