SAS Enterprise Guide 4.1 might perform poorly when opening data sets
with large numbers of variables. This issue is neither affected by the
location nor the size of the data set. Only wide data sets cause this
specific performance problem.
The issue can be circumvented by selecting Tools -> Options -> Data.
Unselect 'Automatically open data when added to a project'. This will
prevent SAS Enterprise Guide from surfacing the data that is added to
the project.
