Usage Note 19260: An _isuser.dll error might occur when you attempt to install the SASĀ® System Requirements Wizard
When you are installing the SAS System Requirements Wizard, you might receive the
following error:
Installation Support file: "C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>\Local
Settings\Temp\{dfdadb50-2C23-11d4-882d-00c04f38f645}\_isuser.dll"
can not be installed. Access is denied.
There is no known cause for this error.
Perform the following steps if your receive the _isuser.dll error:
- Go to
C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\
and delete the directories.
- Clean up your temp directories. On most Windows operating systems,
you can click Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup to do this.
When you highlight each item, you get an explanation of the different items to cleanup. These three
are checked by default:
- Temporary Internet Files
- Recycle Bin
- Temporary Files
After you perform these steps, reboot your PC and try the
installation again. Make sure everything is closed, as instructed
above.
- Perform the installation with the NOMSUPDATE and the NOREBOOT options.
It is very important to do this within the SAS directory. For
example:
E:\SAS\Setup.exe noreboot nomsupdate
- Create a new user ID and add that user to the Administrators group.
You can add a user under the Control Panel > Administrative
Tools > Computer Management (We will use testuser as an example). Log off of your user ID and log in with the newly created
user ID (testuser).
- Create an Admin Personal image on your computer. To do this insert
the SAS Setup CD, under Administrator Steps select Create an
Image for Deployment and, when prompted, select Personal Users. Once
the image is installed on your computer, try installing from this
location.
- Boot in Safe Mode. To do this, restart the machine and press F8 as
soon as the memory count starts when you reboot. A menu will be
displayed; select the appropriate choice. If you do not see the
menu selection, you did not press F8 fast enough and will need to
reboot the machine and try again.
- If you are installing from a network image, try installing from
the Physical Media.
- If you are installing from Physical Media, make sure it is not copied
media. If it is copied media, obtain the original CDs and try the
installation again.
Remember these tips before you perform any SAS installation:
- Reboot you PC.
- Close all applications, including e-mail, anti-virus software, and so forth.
- Make sure you are logged in as the Administrator.
- Click on Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative
Tools > Services and verify that all unnecessary services are
stopped, especially SAS services (for example: SAS Lev1 MS -
Metadata Server).
- Bring up the Task Manager and make sure there are no sas.exe,
objspawner.exe or any ikernel.exe processes running.
