Usage Note 19165: Setting Up A Sub-Capacity SASĀ® License
Abstract: On newer mainframe systems, customers can subdivide the CPU capacity (using logical partitions, or LPAR) that they want to allow for SAS software. To accommodate this model, SAS offers sub-capacity pricing for qualified customers who are upgrading or adding SAS workload to a large IBM mainframe (z/OS). Sub-capacity pricing is based on the capacity of a partition, that is, a subset of the full box. For SAS to generate a correct SETINIT for sub-capacity pricing, qualified customers need to submit specific system information.
This document describes:
- what information needs to be submitted to SAS for sub-capacity pricing and how to find that information
- how to change, if necessary, the capacity definition for logical partitions using the Hardware Management Console.
