Microsoft Word might only start in SAFE mode after you install the SAS Add-In for Microsoft Office. This problem is likely to occur when Adobe Acrobat (full version) is also installed on the system. The problem occurs because the Normal.dot file that is located in C:\Documents and Settings\userid\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates directory has become corrupted. To resolve the problem, rename the Normal.dot file to Normal.old. Word will re-create this file the next time it is invoked.
