Usage Note 18998: SAS® Web Report Studio 3.1 receives XML output from SAS® Stored Process Server
When you run SAS® Web Report Studio 3.1 and execute a stored process,
the SAS Stored Process Server returns XML output to SAS Web Report
Studio. Then, SAS Web Report Studio converts the XML into HTML that is
sent back to the user's Web browser.
Prior to the 3.1 version, SAS Web Report Studio received HTML output
from the SAS Stored Process Server and sent it directly to the user's
Web browser.
As a result of this change, some Stored Process report output might
display differently when you run SAS Web Report Studio 3.1. For
example:
* If you use a SAS DATA step to create your own HTML tags in your
HTML output, the tags will not work. Here is an example: If you add
an "<IMG>" tag to reference a graph, the link will not work.
* If you include an _ODSSTYLE definition in your SAS code, the option
has no effect on the output. The style is determined by the user's
preferences as specified in SAS Web Report Studio, for example,
"Seaside."
* Stored process reports that were created by using
SAS® Enterprise Guide® do not support any layout design.
For more information, see "Making Stored Processes Available to SAS Web
Report Studio" and "Customizing Report Styles" in the "SAS Intelligence
Platform: Web Application Administration Guide" at:
http://support.sas.com/documentation/configuration/biwaag.pdf
Other SAS Stored Process Server clients such as SAS Enterprise Guide,
the SAS Information Delivery Portal, or the SAS Stored Process Server
Web Application do not receive XML output from the Stored Process
Server; they receive HTML output. So, the HTML output that is displayed
by SAS Web Report Studio might be slightly different than the output
that is displayed by other clients when running the same stored process.
As a work-around, perform the following tasks to create a report
that contains a link to a stored process. Then, click the link to
execute the stored process via the Stored Process Server Web
Application.
1. Create a stored process and execute it using the SAS Stored
Process Server Web Application. Note the URL (Web address)
at the top of your Web browser.
2. Add a URL link in SAS Web Report Studio, and specify the above URL
to invoke the SAS Stored Process Server Web Application and run
the stored process.
Create a new report. Add a "Text" item on your report.
In the "Edit Text" window, click the "link" icon to add the
URL link. For example, the text might be:
Click here to run the stored process
On the "Web page URL" line, specify the URL.
