When multiple processes attempt to update the same SPDE data set, locking errors occur as SPDE only supports member-level locking. When SPDE attempts to produce an appropriate diagnostic message at SAS® 9.1.3 SP4, error messages such as one or more of the following may occur in the log:
Conversation termination; status=1 System Exiting Status=401 tkthread: Access violation
The last message only occurs if the system option
has been specified when SAS is initialized.
Note: the fix associated with this SAS Note only allows a more appropriate diagnostic message to be generated for the locking issue. It does not change the fact that SPDE requires exclusive access of the SPDE data set in order to update it.
