Problem Note 18909: "ClassFormatError exception is thrown" Java runtime error when string constants contain umlaut characters

DetailsHotfixAboutRate It

When executing SAS® Enterprise MinerTM Java-created score code in a Java-based application where characters being coded contain umlauts (for example, Ä ), you might get the following error:

A ClassFormatError exception is thrown. Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ClassFormatError: Illegal UTF8 string in constant pool in class file eminer/user/vf_priv_app_v10/DS

The error occurs because the string constants are not being transcoded correctly from ASCII to UTF8.
