In SAS Enterprise Guide, a "Save As" action on a non-SAS data file, such as a .txt file, might cause errors and data corruption. The errors that may occur are:
An error occurred saving the file. Requested file already accessed for update. The process can not access the file, filename, because it is being used by another process.
In addition to the error, if you open the data from the location where the save failed, all the data will be gone.
If the goal is to edit non-SAS tables, such as .txt data files, and then save the results, the best circumvention is to close the data window after making the edits and click 'Yes' to the prompt to save the changes. The changes will be successfully saved.
Do not use the Save As method for saving non-SAS data files until this problem has been fixed.
