Problem Note 18270: After applying Microsoft patch MS06-040 programs that require large amounts of contiguous memory fail and can display a memory-allocation error
When you apply Microsoft's security patch MS06-040, applications that
require large amounts of contiguous memory (such as SAS® Information Map
Studio or Java applications) can fail to run. You might also receive the
following error messages:
Error: java -Xms512M -Xmx1024M -version
Error: Error occurred during initialization of VM
Error: Could not reserve enough space for object heap
Error: Could not create the Java virtual machine.
Error: Out of memory.

To solve these problems, contact Microsoft (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924054) for a hot fix for the 32-bit version of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
Note: These problems should not occur if you applied the security patch that
was available after September 12, 2006 because that patch incorporates the hot fix for this issue.
