Usage Note 18983: "ERROR: Error authenticating user..." "ERROR: Access denied." appear in SAS® Metadata Server log if user right "Logon as a batch job" not set locally
When you set up a Windows Server to act as a SAS® Metadata Server, many
user accounts require the user right of "Logon as a batch job". When
the SAS Metadata Server is also being used as a Domain Server, it is
often confusing as to where this user right should be set. If you have
not used the LOCAL rights, you might see the following messages in the
SAS Metadata Server log.
NOTE: New client connection (7) rejected from server port 8561 for
user SERVERsasadm.
Peer IP address and port are 10.10.1.3:1492.
NOTE: User sastrust probably does not have the right to log on as a
batch job.
ERROR: Error authenticating user sastrust in function LogonUser.
Error 1385 (Logon failure: the user has not been granted the
requested logon type at this computer. ).
ERROR: Access denied.
NOTE: New client connection (8) rejected from server port 8561 for
user serversastrust.
Peer IP address and port are 10.10.1.3:53903.
ERROR: Error authenticating user sasadm in function LogonUser.
Error 1326 (Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password)
ERROR: Access denied.
If the preceding messages appear in the log, verify that the user right
was set locally and not set in the domain settings.
