Problem Note 18895: Inconsistent processing of carriage control characters when using OPTION
FILECC
When you use OPTION FILECC and read a dataset with a record format of
RECFM=VA or RECFM=VBA, SAS treats invalid carriage control characters as
if they are blanks.
When you read a dataset with a record format of RECFM=FA or RECFM=FBA,
SAS issues a warning message when the data contains invalid cariage
control characters: WARNING: Invalid carriage control character.
A future release of the SAS system will issue the warning message for
invalid carriage control characters in both variable and fixed-length
files.
