Problem Note 18866: Filtering on character variables with the $char format and informat may
result in incorrect results
Having variables in a datase that utilize the $char format and informat
causes the Filter wizard to generate incorrect clauses.
If the variable has both $char informat and format and you type a value
in the wizard (basic screen), the where clause will pad the value with
spaces.
Example:
char1 contains '1234 '
If the variable has only the format, either selecting a value from the
pulldown or typing a value manually will result in the clause having a
blank value.
Example:
char1 contains ''
To workaround the problem, use the Advanced Edit in the Filter
wizard to type in the correct clause.
