Problem Note 18844: Unable to open SAS table in SAS from My Computer if SAS Enterprise Guide
is installed
If you have the SAS System and SAS Enterprise Guide installed on the
same machine, you should be able to double click on a SAS table from My
Computer to open it in either the SAS System or SAS Enterprise Guide
based on your settings. You first need to set the default program for
opening the particular file type by pening My Computer. In the My
Computer window, right-click on a SAS table, choose 'Open With', and
then choose 'Choose Program'. Select SAS for Windows and click the
button 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file'. Then
click OK.
With this setting, you should be able to open a SAS table in the SAS
System by double clicking on it. However, you may instead get an error
log generated in the folder where the SAS table resides. The name of
this file follows the naming convention,
my_sas_table.sas7bdat.log
When you open this file, the log will contain unrecognizable errors.
To circumvent this problem, right-click on the SAS table and choose to
Open With, then SAS for Windows.
