Problem Note 18276: "Error occurred during initialization of VM" when invoking SAS Help on
Unix systems
When you attempt to invoke SAS Help on Unix systems running SAS 9.1.3
with Service Pack 4, you may receive the following error message:
Error occurred during initialization of VM
java.lang.Error:java.lang.ClassNotFoundException
com.sas.app.AppClassLoader
This error indicates that an essential Java archive is missing
from the CLASSPATH required by SAS. If you are attempting to run
components such as SAS Help on Unix or Linux platforms and receive
this error message, check to see if the CLASSPATH environment
variable is set on your system.
If the CLASSPATH environment variable is set, modify it to include
!SASROOT/misc/base/sas.launcher.jar and restart SAS from an environment
that contains this CLASSPATH modification.
