When you reboot your system and the metadata server is set to start automatically, the metadata server it might stay in a starting state but never start.
You can check if this is happening by clicking on Start►Settings►Control Panel►Administrative Tools►Services or in the Event Viewer.
The Services window indicates that it is "starting".
The following error messages might appear in the Event Viewer:
Event Type: Error Event Source: Service Control Manager Event Category: None Event ID: 7022 Date: 2/7/2006 Time: 1:54:20 PM User: N/A Computer:Your_PC Description: The SAS Lev1 MS -<configdir> service hung on starting.
