Usage Note 17810: The "Web Folders" feature is not installed by default on Windows 2003
server
When attempting to use Web Folders on Windows 2003 server, the
following error may occur:
"The folder you entered does not appear to be valid.
Please choose another."
The error occurs because Microsoft Office Web Folders is not included
with Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP/2003 unless Microsoft Office
is installed (see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=298637).
To correct the problem, install Microsoft Office Web Folders.
Alternatively, Microsoft announced a software update for
Web Folders earlier this year,
(see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;892211)
which can be used to add Web Folders functionality to Windows 2003
without installing Microsoft Office. The download is available from
