Usage Note 17602: The error "Could not resolve the passed in name to an IP address" occurs when you are viewing an application server defined by metadata
In SAS® Enterprise Guide®, when you view an application server defined by metadata, the following error messages might appear:
Could not resolve the passed in name to an IP address.
The machine name could not be resolved to an IP address.
These messages occur when a SAS Application Server (often referred to as SASApp) contains an unresolvable host name that is defined in metadata.
To resolve this issue, verify that the host name for the application server is correctly defined in SAS® Management Console and there is a DNS entry for the host name.
As a temporary workaround, if the IP address for the server is known, add the host name and IP address in the hosts file in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\.
When working with a a grid environment, create an LSF_TOP/conf/hosts file in the form of IP address, long name, shortname. Here is an example: 123.456.7890 mylonghostname.com shortname
After you create the file, run badmin reconfig to cause the changes to take effect.
