Problem Note 17412: Installing SAS System Viewer does not prompt for filetype registration
When you install the SAS System Viewer from "SAS 9.1.3 Foundation and
SAS Enterprise Guide" DVD 'CD Set 51 - 24Mar2006', the SAS System Viewer
installation does not prompt for filetype registration during its
installation. Specifically, it does not open a dialog box and prompt as
a SAS 9.1 installation would:
Select Default Filetype Actions
It has been detected that SAS is installed on this computer. You may
either keep the current filetype actions, or you can register them
for use with the SAS System Viewer 9.1.
- Register to the SAS System Viewer 9.1
- Leave registered to SAS
The SAS System Viewer install proceeds and registers the SAS filetypes
with the viewer.
Possible workarounds to re-register filetypes to SAS or to Enterprise
Guide after the SAS System Viewer has been installed are as follows:
* To register the filetypes to SAS, use the register option outlined
in Step A of SAS Note #016399 with a variation of the path so it
works with the DVD:
This path example:
<drive letter>:\sas\setup.exe register
would become this path to use from the DVD:
<drive letter>:\sassetupsm1dvd\sas\disk1\sas\setup.exe register
* To register the filetypes to Enterprise Guide, the best course of
action is to uninstall and reinstall Enterprise Guide responding
"Yes" to the corresponding filetype prompts.
