Problem Note 17233: Poor performance with large DATA step and many missing values
When running a DATA step with many missing values on the HP-UX Itanium
platform, you may see an extreme difference in running time when
compared with the same process run on the HP-UX PA-RISC platform.
Development has determined that HP-UX PA-RISC uses a binary search
method to identify which statement encountered the missing value,
whereas HP-UX Itanium uses a linear search method.
Further investigation revealed that the Linux Itanium and Windows 64-bit
platforms also use the linear search method.
