Problem Note 17072: Metadata server service might show starting state but never start
When you reboot your system and the metadata server is set to start
automatically, the metadata server it might stay in a starting state
but never start.
You can check if this is happening by clicking on Start►Settings►Control Panel►Administrative Tools►Services or in the Event Viewer.
The Services window indicates that it is "starting".
The following error messages might appear in the Event Viewer:

The SAS Lev1 OB - <configdir> service depends on the
SAS Lev1 MS -<configdir> service which failed to start because of the
following error:
After starting, the service hung in a start-pending state.
To get the SAS® Metadata Server to run, perform the following:
- Start the Task Manager, highlight the sas.exe, and select the
End Process button.
- Select Start►Programs►SAS►<configdir>►Start SAS Metadata
Server.
- Select Start►Programs►SAS►SAS Management Console 9.1.
- Log onto the SAS Management Console.
You can start your other SAS services, as needed.
