SAS® Analytics Platform is designed to use the configured Shared Platform port (port 6099, by default) for all communication from the SAS Analytics Platform server to SAS clients. However, the SAS Analytics Platform server might have problems communicating with clients if a random port number is used.
Select the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.
A fix is not currently available for SAS Enterprise Miner 5.3. However, following the steps below allows SAS Enterprise Miner 5.3 to work behind a firewall.
The easiest way to determine the version is to go to http://yourserver:6098 and click on the "Configuration" tab. Under the "Configuration" information, there is a section labeled "Analytics Platform" that contains the version number.
UNIX specific instructions:
Edit the apserver shell script. This is typically located at:
!SASROOT/SASAPCore/bin/apserver
You will need to add the following command line argument before the word $OPTIONS in the last line of the script. Make sure there is one blank space before and after this argument:
Save the file and restart SAS Analytics Platform Server.
Windows specific instructions:
Edit the apstart.ini file. This is typically located at:
C:\Program Files\SAS\SASAPCore\bin\apstart.ini
Add this argument to the CommandLineArgs line, just after the argument "-Xmx512m". Make sure there is one blank space before and after this argument:
Also edit the apserver.bat file. This is typically located at:
C:\Program Files\SAS\SASAPCore\bin\apserver.bat
Add this argument to the last line of the batch script, just after the argument "-Xmx512m". Make sure there is one blank space before and after this argument:
Also edit the wrapper.conf file, which is used when SAS Analytics Platform server is installed as a Windows service. This is typically located at:
C:\Program Files\SAS\SASAPCore\conf\wrapper.conf
Locate the following line in the "Java Additional Parameters" section of the file:
wrapper.java.additional.8=-Dsas.app.class.dirs=../lib
Immediately after it, add this line:
Save these files and restart the SAS Analytics Platform server.
