Problem Note 16972: A blank browser window might appear when you are exporting from SAS® Web Report Studio
When exporting from SAS Web Report Studio, you might see a browser-related security message such as this one:
To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted
this file from showing active content that could access your
computer. Click here for options...
Do not click the download message.
Instead, to enable exporting, you must add the SAS Web Report Studio domain name to your Trusted Sites list for your browser. The domain name should be entered in the form: *.domainname.com
For example, here are the steps for Internet Explorer:
- When logged into SAS Web Report Studio, select Tools ► Internet Options.
- Click the Security tab.
- Select Trusted sites.
- Click Sites.
- In the Add this website to the zone box, enter the domain name used in the SAS Web Report Studio URL. For example, if the URL was
http://servername.sas.com, then you would enter: *.sas.com
- (Site-specific step) Often, SAS Web Report Studio is running in a local intranet and is not using SSL. If so, disable the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone option.
- Click Add to add the domain to the Websites list.
- Click Close.
- Close the browser.
If the above steps do not enable exporting, then perform these additional steps:
- With Trusted sites still selected on the Security tab, click Custom Level.
- Scroll down in the Settings list until you find an option named Auto Prompting for File Downloads (or something similar, depending on your browser and version).
- Select the Enable option.
- Click OK.
- Close the browser.
