Problem Note 16766: SID.TXT file deleted when used in Renew SAS Software utility
When you run the Start>Programs>SAS>SAS 9.1>Renew SAS Software utility
and point to the SID.TXT file located in the "c:\program files\sas\sas
9.1\core\sasinst" folder, the license is renewed but the SID.TXT file
is, inadvertently, deleted.
The SID.TXT file is a copy of the SAS Installation Data (SID) file used
during the installation or used during the last license renewal. This
file is automatically created by SAS. You should not edit this file.
When you run the 'Renew SAS Software' utility and you are prompted for
a SAS Installation Data file, provide a file other than the existing
SID.TXT. Your updated SID file is emailed to your SAS Site
Representative from SAS Software Orders. The SID file is an email
attachment named SAS91_######.txt, where ###### is an order
number. Save the SAS91_######.txt file to any folder on your computer
and provide the folder and filename during the SAS Renewal process.
Complete renewal instructions are located on the Install Center at
http://support.sas.com. The SAS 9.1.3 link is:
