Problem Note 16263: Limited memory for the Java Virtual Machine might cause SAS® OLAP Cube Studio to stop responding or not display certain objects
In some cases, SAS OLAP Cube Studio might stop responding, or it might not display items such as tables when the memory assigned to the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) is too low.
Increasing the memory available for the Java Virtual Machine might
prevent this problem from occurring. The memory allocation is set in the
OLAPA.INI file. This file is located in the installation directory of SAS OLAP Cube
Studio. Add the option:
-Xmx###m
where ### is a valid memory value. For example, if at least 512
megabytes is available to the JVM, then a valid option would be
-Xmx512m. Do not specify more memory than is available to the JVM.
An example of the command line argument with this option is:
CommandLineArgs=-Xmx512m
-Djava.system.class.loader=com.sas.app.AppClassLoader
-Dsas.app.class.dirs="C:\Program Files\SAS\SASOLAPCubeStudio\9.1"
-Dsas.app.class.path=sas.olapadmin.app.jar;.
-Dsas.ext.config=sas.java.ext.config
-cp sas.launcher.jar com.sas.olapadmin.workspace.app.TheApp
Increasing memory might not solve this problem for all circumstances. If
an increase in memory does not enable SAS OLAP Cube Studio to function,
contact SAS Technical Support for more information.
