Problem Note 15731: Saving synonyms in Text Miner Interactive training causes Enterprise
Miner client to terminate
Text Miner Interactive training allows you to select multiple terms from
the Terms viewer, and combine them into a synonym group using an action
we label "Treat as Equivalent terms." If you then save the synonyms to a
SAS data set using the menu selections : File -> Save Synonyms, the data
is saved, but the Terms viewer will be blank.
Closing Text Miner Interactive will generate a message box reading:
A critical error has occurred on the SAS server.
This client session must be terminated.
Your only option is to select the OK button and terminate the Enterprise
Miner client session.
The synonyms data set was saved under the name you specified. You can
use that synonym table in Text Miner without further problems.
The error is caused by a permission issue on the SASHELP library on the
SAS Server. Saving the equivalent terms as a synonym data set causes
Interactive training to attempt a write action in the SASHELP library,
requiring the Enterprise Miner login id have write access to the SASHELP
library. Specifically, since SASHELP is a concatenation of many folders,
the Enterprise Miner login id needs write access to the first folder in
the concatenation.
The circumvention is:
1. Determine which folders are used in defining SASHELP.
2. Grant write access to the first folder in the concatenation list.
From the program editor within the Enterprise Mincer client, submit:
LIBNAME SASHELP LIST;
This will show a listing of all folders in the library concatenation.
When writing to SASHELP, we always use the first location in the
concatenation. Therefore this is the folder on which you should modify
write permissions. The listing result may look like:
NOTE: Libref= SASHELP
Scope= Kernel
Levels= 26
-Level 1-
Engine= V9
Physical Name= C:\Program Files\SAS\SAS 9.1\nls\en\SASCFG
File Name= C:\Program Files\SAS\SAS 9.1\nls\en\SASCFG
-Level 2-
Engine= V9
Physical Name= C:\Program Files\SAS\SAS 9.1\core\sashelp
File Name= C:\Program Files\SAS\SAS 9.1\core\sashelp
Navigate to the "Level 1" folder using Windows Explorer. Open the
Properties for this folder (SASCFG in this example) and select the
Security tab.
Add SAS Server Users group. Grant write permission (in addition to the
permissions already set).
