When doing an outer join between 2 DBMS tables and renaming a column on the SELECT clause that is also used in the ON clause, the new alias name is submitted to the DBMS rather than the original column name. This results in the DBMS coming back with an error and thus SAS^® retrieving the entire DBMS tables and doing the join in SAS thus causing a performance degradation.
