Usage Note 14956: SAS Transient library 7.50F available via Hot Fix
The SAS 7.50 Transient Library by default continues to exploit the
standard BIND 4.8.3 DNS specifications and standards. Specifications
for the search order and the resolver configuration files for SAS/C 7.50
are compatible with earlier versions of the SAS/C Transient Library.
With z/OS 1.2 and later, there are several new IBM TCP resolver
configuration directives (i.e., LOOKUP, OPTIONS, SEARCH). With the SAS
Transient Library 7.50, these new directives are exploited.
Additionally, directives such as DOMAIN and NAMESERVER, not previously
supported, are exploited with the SAS 7.50 Transient Library. Please
refer to SAS Notes #009095 and #009099 for related issues concerning
TCP directives.
With IBM z/OS 1.2, a new Resolver (BIND 9) address space was
introduced for processing gethostbyname() and gethostbyaddr(). The new
resolver unifies and simplifies the myriad configuration specifications
available for hostname IP address resolution under z/OS. To exploit the
IBM z/OS 1.2 Resolver at 7.50, please refer to SAS Note #010082 .
The SAS 7.50F Transient Library is available via hot fix C9BA34.
